Multiple Tooth ImplantsMultiple Tooth Replacement with Implants provided by Dr. Blake in Jupiter, FL at Roy C. Blake III, DDS, MSD, Maxillofacial Prosthodontist For patients missing multiple teeth, dental implants can make a significant and permanent change in your ability to chew and the look of your smile. Our team at Roy C. Blake III, DDS, MSD, Maxillofacial Prosthodontist can show you how we can vastly increase your comfort and your function, providing you replacement teeth that will feel much more like your natural teeth. Dental implants allow for permanent retention, meaning you can use your new teeth just like your natural teeth. For many patients, the most frustrating part about replacement teeth is how they feel. Traditional methods for retaining dental prosthetics come with negative aspects. Dental implants done by Dr. Roy Blake remove many of these frustrations. We can permanently secure your prosthetic, including a dental bridge, a partial or complete denture, and even a full arch, to dental implants, which serve as solid posts that we surgically place in your jaw. This process will allow you to have replacement teeth that function much closer to your natural teeth. You can chew your normal diet without appliances rocking back and forth in your mouth, or worry of them coming loose. Request an Appointment What Are Dental Implants?Dental implants are not teeth, and they are the foundation for prosthetic teeth. What many patients misunderstand is that when they lose a tooth, they also lose the tooth root, breaking the connection with the jawbone. With traditional methods of tooth replacement, we replaced the tooth but did not reestablish that connection to the jaw. This means that the patient has the tooth retained to other neighboring teeth. Dental implants are different because we restore that missing connection; we restore the root. A dental implant resembles a screw, and it’s similar to a screw-in both size and shape, with a threaded end on one side and a connective piece on the other side. Dental implants come in both titanium metal and ceramic. We surgically insert the threaded end of the implant directly into the jawbone. The threaded end is designed to capture a lot of bone surface, and as the bone heals around the implant, it should grow over the threads fusing the two permanently together for a firm hold. With the implant stabilized, we then attach the customized dental prosthetic to the connective piece on the exposed top. The prosthetic may be a dental bridge, a partial denture or even a full denture. With the implants in place, we can then customize your dental device that will attach to the implants. Depending on the prosthetic being used, the patient’s needs, and what we determined during your treatment planning, your device may be permanently attached to allow you to snap it on and off as needed. Dental implants have allowed patients to have a wider variety of dental restoration work done, while also increasing their comfort for use. Other retention methods, such as clasps, brackets, using neighboring teeth as anchors, and suction, are not ideal. These methods lead to damage to nearby and otherwise healthy teeth or come loose easily. With implants, we can leave healthy neighboring teeth alone and only impact the area requiring restoration.
